About this route
6D5N driving route which can travel southern and northern part of Okinawa. Because of 2 night stay at Chatan/Yomitan and Naha, travel pace is relaxing. It covers wonderful nature scenery such as Kafu Banta Cliff, Cape Zampa and Manzamo Cliff. Driving on the Kouri bridge and kaichu road will be unforgettable memory. You can stay Motobu area near the Churaumi Aquarium one of the biggest aquarium in the world and you can avoid the busy time. In addition, you can visit the places where still keep atmosphere and culture of old Okinawa, such as Shurijo Castle Park, Katsurenjo Castle Ruin and Sefa Utaki where is consider as a sanctuary of Ryukyu Kingdom(Ancient Okinawa). You can enjoy jungle cruise at Bios Hill. At Okinawa World Park, where traditional Okinawan houses are lined up, you can touch unique Okinawa culture such as weaving and Eisa dance. If you have time, you can learn about Himeyuri student corps and okinawa history under WWⅡ at Himeyuri Peace Museum. Mihama American Village, Outlet Mall Ashibina and Itoman Farmers Center are perfect places for shopping. It is also recommended to stop by nice cafe like Minatogawa Stateside Town. Because of many nice beaches, it is recommended to stay beach resort hotel and enjoy marine activities in beautiful sea if you stay in Yomitan and Motobu/Nakijin area. Of cause, you can enjoy Okinawa local food along this route! The must-eat food are Okinawa traditional foods, Okinawa Soba, Steak, grilled butter fish, Motobu Beef BBQ and cold sweets like Gelato and Smoothie using local fruits and Kakigori(shaved ice). It is recommended route because you can travel to northern part of Okinawa includes Churaumi Aquarium and Kouri island, and also possible to spend enough time to southern part of Okinawa which has many attractions too.

Day. 1Naha to Chatan/Yomitan
This day will head from Naha to Chatan/Yomitan aera. Mileage is about 100㎞ only and you can travel leisurely. The first destination is a symbol of Okinawa "Shurijo Castle(首里城)" Let's walk around the red color castle which is totally different from typical castles in main land of Japan. Their main gate "Shureimon(守礼門)" is in 2000 yen bill and nice place to take a photo. This is the first day of Okinawa driving trip and why don't you try Okinawa food? Our daily driving map will guide you some nice Okinawa food restaurant which is using old traditional house and Okinawa soba restaurant. Then, let's drive to "Kafu Banta Cliff(果報バンタ)" via "Kaichu Road(海中道路)". This is a road on the beautiful sea and you can enjpy really pleasant driving. There are some nice gelato shop and Kakigori shop and let's take a rest there. If you still have energy, let's move to "Katsurenjo Castle Ruin-勝連城跡" whish is listed as UNESCO world heritage. You can enjoy panolamic view from 100m height ruin. Chatan and Yomitan area where you stay this day are located westside of the island. It is recommended to visit either "Toguchi Beach(渡具知ビーチ)" or "Zanpa Criff(残波岬)" and enjoy breathtaking sunset before check-in.

There are many reasonable price hotels and cottages which can accomodate big group. Normally, they don't provide plan with dinner. You can book with breakfast only and enjoy dinner at local restaurant around the hotel. Yomitan is an area in the north of Chatan and there are several 4-5 star beach resorts. You can enjoy beautiful white sand beach, marine activities and breathtaking sunset. There are a few local restaurants and recommended to have dinner in the resort. Most of accommodations don't charge parking fee.
Day. 2Chatan/Yomitan to Chatan/Yomitan
This day is the day of between two consecutive stay in Chatan/Yomitan and you have 2 options. ①Traveler who stay Botobu/Nakijin next day Mileage is only 40km and very relaxing day. First destination is "Bios Hill(ビオスの丘)" where you can feel the nature of Okinawa. You can try cruise in jungle, Buffalo car, walking with goat and so on. Recommended lunch is local pork and seafood restaurants. Then you can visit "Yachimun no Sato(やちむんの里)" where 19 individual local pottery workshops are gathering. Of cause it is also good idea not to drive and enjoy swiming and marine activity in your beach resort. ②Traveler who go back to Naha next day Mileage is about 160km without highway and it is recommended to start 8:00～9:00 if you don't lile huried travel. First, you can drive to "Kouri Ocean Tower(古宇利オーシャンタワー)" via Kouri Bridge. Driving on the emerald green sea is really exhilarating and may be the best memory of this travel. Then you can move to "Churaumi Aquarium(美ら海水族館)" which is one of the biggest aquarium in the world. It is better to have lunch near aquarium. Then, you can drive back to your inn via ”Cape Manzamo(万座毛)” where is the most famous cape in Okinawa because of its elephant shape.

Stay at Motobu/Nakijin
You will stay in either Motobu(本部) or Nakijin(今帰仁) area on this day. The two towns are about 20 km away and about 30 minutes by car. Famous "Churaumi Aquarium(美ら海水族館)" is located in Motobu area. It is face to west coast and you can enjoy beautiful sunset. Nakijin is an area with famous sightseeing spot Kouri island and located next to Motobu area. Both area have many hotel choices from very reasonable hotels to 5 star beach resorts. At the fine beach resort, you can enjoy beautiful white sand beach and marine activities. There are a few local restaurants and recommended to have dinner in the resort. Most of accommodations don't charge parking fee.
Day. 4Motobu/Nakijin to Naha
This day will go back to Naha from Motobu/Nakijin. Mileage is about 110km. The first destination is "Churaumi Aquarium(美ら海水族館)" which is one of the biggest aquarium in the world and whaleshark is must-see. They also hold dolphin show for free and please don't miss it. It is better to have lunch near aquarium. Our daily driving map will recommend you popular Okinawa soba shop among locals and BBQ restaurant which is operated by local farmers. After that, "Nago Pineapple Park(ナゴパイナップルパーク)" is also recommended to visit. You can enjoy walking in the pinapple farm and taste it. Then, let's drive to "Minatogawa Stateside Town(港川外国人住宅街)". Originally it was residences for US military and most of them are renovated as nice atmosphere cafes and souvenir shops. Next destination is "Tomari Port Fish Market(泊いゆまち)". If the timing is much, you can see Tsuna cutting scene. If you would like to enjoy shopping before going back to your country, you can stop at a big duty-free shop near the market. There are heavy traffic jam adound Naha especially Kokusai Street and it takes time to return your car too. If you don't stay Naha and take flight on this day, please reach rental car shop at least 3 hours before the flight.

You will stay Naha(那覇) city on this day. It is the biggest city in Okinawa and they have many accommodation options. It is city area and all accommodations are not Beach resort but normal western style hotels. Around "Kokusai Street" is consider as downtown area of Naha city and many hotels and restaurants are concentrated. Many restaurants opens till midnight and it is recommended to book your hotels with breakfast only or without meals. Many hotels don't have own parking and they may charge additional parking fee. There are always heavy traffic jam on Kokusai street. Additionally westbound rane from 7: 30 to 9: 00am and eastward rane from 17:00 to 19: 00 is allows for buses and taxis only. Please be careful.
Day. 5Naha to Naha
This day is the day of between two consecutive stay in Naha. Mileage is about 70km only and you can travel leisurely. It is recommended to travel Okinawa southern area in a clock wise direction. The first destination is a "Sefa Utaki(斎場御嶽)" holy place of Ryukyu Kingdom(Ancient Okinawa). You can drive there through Niraikanai Bridge View spot. There are many nice cafes where you can enjoy panolamic ocean view around there and recommended to have a lunch. Our daily driving map will guide you them. The biggest highlight of this day is " Okinawa World Gyokusendo Cave(沖縄ワールド&玉泉洞)". You can touch Okinawa cultures at many traditional Okinawa houses build more than 100 years ago.They hold free traditional dance Eisa every day and please don't miss it. There is another highlight Gyokusendo Cave one of the biggest lime stone cave in Japan. In front of Okinawa world, t"Vallery of Gangala" is also worht to visit. "Peace Memorial Museum(平和祈念資料館)" and "Himeyuri Peace Museum(ひめゆり平和祈念資料館)" the heritage of WWⅡare also recommended to visit to learn what is war. There are many other spots like winary, Glass village, Okinawa style garden and so on. It is better to pick up spots where you would like to visit before departure. If you would like to enjoy shopping before going back to your country, you can stop at big outlet mall near the airport.There are heavy traffic jam adound Naha especially Kokusai Street. If you want to go there it is better not to drive and but walk around. It takes time to return your car too. If you don't stay Naha and take flight on this day, please reach rental car shop at least 3 hours before the flight.

There are many other spots like winary, Glass village, Okinawa style garden and so on. It is better to pick up spots where you would like to visit before departure. If you would like to enjoy shopping before going back to your country, you can stop at big outlet mall near the airport.There are heavy traffic jam adound Naha especially Kokusai Street. If you want to go there it is better not to drive and but walk around. It takes time to return your car too. If you don't stay Naha and take flight on this day, please reach rental car shop at least 3 hours before the flight.
