Sometimes called the “Niagra of the East”, Sogi-no-taki falls boasts an impressive scale, with a width of 210 meters and a height of 12 meters. These falls are known across Japan for their scenic beauty and captivating views. In DriveJapan and as travel professionals we recommend this spot with a strong 5 stars rank..

The falling water carved the rock surface of Senjoiwa rock, and its thunderous sound is so captivating that visitors can’t seem to take their eyes off it all. This entire area is a nature park that exhibits beautiful colors of the season, and is bustling with visitors, especially during the cherry blossom and autumn color seasons. Stop by the Shimuzu shrine to pray to the god of marriage and birth for a prosperous personal life. We highly recommend this location, as it will be one of the main spots on your journey, and will offer you the most memorable experience on your trip. Furthermore, this place is impossible to reach using public transportation. It is only by driving your car that this amazing experience becomes possible. This is one of the reasons why we created Drive Japan.

Advice:
-This is a MUST SEE spot in Kagoshima. You won’t see falls anywhere like this in the rest of Japan.
