A doll museum in a nostalgic old town with old nostalgic dolls on display. The facial expressions of dolls such as grandpas and grandmas in the countryside are indescribable. It's sober but unique. The exhibition hall is a 1-story wooden “hiraya-zukuri" style building that features an area for planned exhibitions and a café corner that offers food and drink. The 15th of every month is a “Living Museum Day" where you can meet Takahashi Mayumi herself during the morning; speaking with the doll’s creator in person is a priceless experience. The Japanese restaurant called "Tsukinoakari" on the same site as the Mayumi Takahashi Museum of Doll Art. You can enjoy the rustic cuisine of the region at the restaurant where local housewives serve regional cuisine using local ingredients.
The parking lot is on the opposite (east) side of the railroad track.
Admission may be restricted during times of congestion, and you may have to wait tens of minutes to several hours before entering the museum.
